Your Wildest Dreams - Moody Blues (1986) 82723

Remember your first love? Perhaps it didn't work out, and you've spent years not only wondering what could have been, but how their life turned turned out...

One day in 1986, Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues was wondering about HIS first love, and it led to a personal journey into his past, which he characterized as "fantastic, amazing, and disturbing."

The result was a Great Song of the '80s.

As far as Justin was concerned, "Your Wildest Dreams" was a throwaway song that would garner little interest.

He was wrong. Turns out, the idea had almost universal appeal--at least here in the US. **Check the note below.)

Cashbox called it "Lilting and Pretty." Other critics used words like "simple, wistful, nostalgic, and lyrical."

"Your Wildest Dreams" was released as a single from the Moody Blues' album, "The Other Side of Life," and became a huge American hit: #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, #2 on the Mainstream Rock Chart, and #9 on the Hot 100.

**Note: Strangely, the song only charted in only ONE other country: Australia, where it peaked at #20. This is possibly because the excellent semi-autobiographical video was played heavily on MTV. It was soo good, it won a Billboard "Video of the year Award."

That said, "Your Wildest Dreams" by the Moody Blues was a Great Song of 1986 regardless of the video," and for Justin Hayward, its success was "beyond his wildest dreams." :-)

Tomorrow: Stevie's on the line...
