t's no secret that Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie was an incredibly talented singer/songwriter. Her list of Great Songs for the group includes "Don't Stop," "You Make Lovin' Fun," "Say You Love Me," "Songbird," and several others.
Her solo career was also filled with gems, especially today's Great Song of 1984: "Got a Hold on Me," which she co-penned with Todd Sharp.
The song was the first single release from Christine's self-titled second album, and it quickly "got a hold" on Billboard's Rock Tracks and Adult Contemporary Charts, (topping both), and reaching #10 on the Hot 100. It also topped the AC Chart in Canada.
Christine was backed by some top-notch musicians on the track, including Steve Winwood on synthesizers and Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham on guitar.
So basically, From top to bottom, "Got a Hold on Me" by Christine McVie was so stacked with talent, it was destined to become what it became: A Great Song of 1984!
