Rod Stewart's first big solo hit, 1971's "Maggie May" (from the album "Every Picture Tells a Story") is an all time "Great Song," written by Rod and Martin Quittenton. We highlighted the song back on 4/23/20, and you can read about it here: https://www.facebook.com/MichaelCuuuk/posts/171047544368701
In 1972, Rod and Martin teamed up again to write a "Great Song" that sounded somewhat similar to "Maggie May" for Rod's follow-up album, "Never a Dull Moment."
"You Wear It Well" is a about man writing to an old flame, while remembering the good times and wondering how life is currently treating her.
Although matching the incredible success of "Maggie May" was nearly impossible, "You Wear It Well" became a worldwide hit, charting in 8 countries. In the UK, it went to #1, in Canada, it reached #7, and in the US, it peaked at #13.
"You Wear It Well" by Rod Stewart: a solid hit and a "Great Song of 1972!"
