Lou Rawls was a man of many talents: Singer, songwriter, record producer and actor.
Over the course of his long career, he released more than 60 albums, sold more than 40 million records, and won 3 separate Grammy Awards for “Best R&B Male Performance.”
Ironically, he was nominated—but didn't win—the Grammy for his biggest hit: today's “Great Song of the '70s!”
In 1976, “You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” pulled off a rarity by appearing on 4 different Billboard charts at the same time: #1 on the Black Singles and Adult Contemporary charts, #2 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the Dance Club Chart. It was also #1 in South Africa and #2 in Canada. Overall all, It sold more than a million copies.
The song was a perfect mix of Lou's smooth baritone voice and the soulful “Philadelphia Sound,” and over the years, it has been used in numerous movies and TV shows—including season 2 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
TRIVIA: In the late '70s, Lou was a spokesperson for Budweiser, and even recorded a version of their famous jingle on one of his albums!
