Let's slow it down a bit for today's "Great Song of the '70s."
Albert Hammond and Carole Bayer Sager wrote it and Hammond recorded it first...but when Leo Sayer sang this waltz, it became a worldwide Top 10 hit: #1 in the U.S., the U.K. and Ireland, #2 in Canada and South Africa, #4 in New Zealand and #8 in Australia.
The song has also been recorded by the likes of Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias, Rod Stewart, Luther Vandross, Cliff Richard, and even Perry Como...but NO ONE has topped Leo's version!
It's great for slow dancing...and people have been known to cry when they hear it. So grab a Kleenex and a dancing partner and enjoy this "Great Song of 1977" in 3/4 time!
