Heatwave was an interesting group. It's safe to say they were the only disco/funk/jazz group featuring musicians from Dayton, Ohio, the UK, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, and Jamaica.
Quite a melting pot of influences!
Together, they came up with handful of "Great Songs" during the '70s, like 1978's "The Groove Line."
This funky little hybrid of danceable styles charted in 7 countries, reaching the Top 10 in France (#10) and Ireland (#5).
In the US alone, "The Groove Line" sold more than a million copies, peaking at #3 on the Soul Chart and #7 on the Hot 100! (It also got a lot of play in discos.)
In later years, "The Groove Line" was used in TV shows and movies like "Freaks & Greeks," and "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues."
"The Groove Line:" a "Great--and Groovy--Song of 1978!"
