Sweet Surrender - John Denver (1975) 4/6/21

John Denver had SO many hits during the '70s, it's nothing short of amazing.

Today, we're highlighting another one of his ELEVEN #1 songs. And, like most of his biggest hits, it deals with themes of self-exploration and nature.

1975's "Sweet Surrender" was huge in both the US and Canada. Here in the States, it went to #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, #7 on the Country Chart, and #13 on the Hot 100. In Canada, it was #1 on the AC Chart and #16 on the Country Chart.

There are 2 versions of the song. The live version from the concert album "An Evening with John Denver" was the original hit, but the studio version is virtually identical (minus the applause) and many radio stations play(ed) one or the other...or both!
