From 1970 to 1977, the group Bread was busy making (baking?) "Great Songs," charting with 13 singles...4 of which went to #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart.
We've highlighted several of Bread's hits over the past two-plus years...with several more to go. Today, we turn the spotlight on their last #1: 1972's "Sweet Surrender."
As with almost all of Bread's songs, it was written and sung by David Gates, and the style is "typical Bread:" soft, melodic, and romantic.
I've mentioned before that I actually saw Bread in concert back in the day, and, believe it or not, they could really "rock the house," but their "BREAD and butter" (See what I did there?) was soft POP...and "Sweet Surrender" was one of their best!
