Summer has arrived!
On this date in 1976, in honor of the summer solstice, the group War released one of their biggest hits...and a "Great Song of the '70s!"
"Summer" is a perfect laid back song of the season, similar in tone to "Under the Boardwalk," (a "Great Song of the '60s" by The Drifters), and It immediately became a Top 10 triple-chart smash: #1 on Billboard's Easy Listening Chart, #4 on the Soul Chart, and #7 on the Hot 100!
It also sold over a million copies.
There's not much more to say, but...enjoy "Summer" by War: a "Great Song of 1976," and every year since--especially on June 21st!
