Stuck with You - Huey Lewis & The News (1986) 8/16/23

Huey Lewis and guitarist Chris Hayes wrote today's Great Song of 1986 about a girl that Huey was in love with.

"Stuck with You" was a rather unfortunate title, but the song was actually quite positive. It was sort of a do-wop style throwback tune about sharing their lives together, and how happy Huey was to be 'stuck with her."

When the song was released as a single form the album "Fore!" it ended up topping Billboard's Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary Charts, and just missing at #2 on the Mainstream Rock Chart.

It was also a Top 15 hit in 16 other countries, reaching #1 in Canada...and believe it or not: Zimbabwe!

Everybody loved the song...except the girl he wrote it for, who hated it.

End of story. And, although I couldn't find any further info, I'm guess it was probably the end of the relationship as well.
