Today's "Great Song of the '70s" is just plain fun! There's nothing even remotely serious about it. It's just an all out rock & roll party song...and that's what makes it "Great!"
In 1974, Cub Koda and Brownsville Station unleashed a hit that...uhh..lit a fire among young record buyers. To keep the puns going, the song really "smoked," and it "burned" up the charts, going to #3 in both the U.S. and Canada, and #7 in France, of all places!
It was Brownsville Station's only hit...but it was so much fun, Motley Crue covered it in 1985 and it hit the charts again: #16 in the U.S. and #19 in Canada. The video of the Crue's version is WAY over the top, which just adds to its cheesy greatness! (Click the links below for both songs!)
