Simply Irresistible - Robert Palmer (1988) 2/23/24

Today's Great Song of 1988 was three years in the making, and in the end, it was a simple hook that finalized "Simply Irresistible" in Robert Palmer's mind.

After he sings the phrase "Now I Find Her," there are some drumbeats before he finishes the phrase with "Simply Irresistible."

According to Robert, "A little thing like that makes the difference between an idea and the complete song."

As it turned out, the complete song was a complete hit in Australia (where it went to #1), and the US, where it topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart and reached #2 on the Hot 100.

To top things off, Peter won the 1988 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance/Male!
