Maurice and Verdine White of Earth, Wind, and Fire were deeply spiritual people who were always promoting positive life/health changes through their music.
Along with Sonny Burke, they wrote and recorded "Serpentine Fire," today's "Great Song of 1977."
The song digs deep into a Yoga/body concept called the Kundalini Principle. Apparently, Serpentine Fire is your creative energy, and is tied to the fluid in your spine--which can converted into a higher form of energy.
The word "serpentine" applies to the spine, which structurally looks like a serpent.
Regardless of how "into" this sort of thing you might be, the song itself was classy, brassy, and a big hit. Music critics were impressed, calling it something along the lines of "a funky tango with more cowbell."
When it was released as a single from the album "All 'N All," it went right to the top of Billboard's Rhythm & Blues chart, where it stayed for 7 weeks! It also reached #13 on both Billboard's Hot 100 and Canada's Top 40.
