Run to Me - Bee Gees (1972) 8/29/22

If you were old enough to listen to the radio in the late '60s and early '70s, you know that the Bee Gees had several "Great Songs" long before "Saturday Night Fever" and disco appeared on the horizon.

One of their best came in 1972, from their album, "To Whom It May Concern."

According to Robin Gibb, "Run to Me," (about a man who longs to be noticed by a broken-hearted girl), was written by request for Andy Williams!

The funny thing is, the Brothers Gibb liked it so much, they recorded and released it themselves before Andy could get around to it (which he eventually did, although I couldn't find a copy to link.)

Today, "Run to Me" is probably not the first Bee Gees song that comes to mind in ANY discussion about their music, but in 1972, it was a worldwide smash, charting in 15 countries covering every continent except Antarctica!

Oddly, the only place it topped the charts was in Thailand, and the only country that took it to #2 was Brazil.

That said, it also did extremely well in Australia and South Africa (#3), as well as the US (#6 on the Easy Listening Chart) and Canada (#6 on the Top 40).

"Run to Me" by the Bee Gees: a "Great Song of 1972." Thanks for asking, Andy!
