Ready to Take a Chance Again - Barry Manilow (1978) 1/7/23

There's a lot of talent behind today's "Great Song of 1978."

"Ready to Take a Chance Again" was the theme from "Foul Play," starring Goldie Hawn & Chevy Chase--two of the most bankable movie stars of the late '70s.

It was written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox, the songwriting duo responsible for the Theme from "Happy Days," and "Killing Me Softly with His Song" (co-written with Lori Lieberman).

The song was produced by Ron Dante, who in addition to being a prolific producer, was the lead singer for both The Archies and The Cufflinks back in the '60s.

And, of course, "Ready to Take a Chance Again" was co-produced and performed by Barry Manilow.

The song did quite well on the charts. reaching the top of the Adult Contemporary Chart in Canada, and #5 in the US. It was nominated for a Academy Award, but lost to "Thank God It's Friday" by Donna Summer (from the movie of the same name).

Tiriva: The single was released in MONO...but if you wanted stereo, you could get it--if you bought the soundtrack album! I've provided the stereo version for you below.

"Ready to Take a Chance Again" a "Great Song 0f 1978" by Barry Manilow, with help from a bunch of talented folks--and a lot of..."Foul Play!"
