Over the years, several magazines and websites have asked their readers to list their favorite "driving song:" the song most likely to make them crank up the volume and crank down the windows.
In poll after poll, one song has always made the Top 10...and ALMOST ALWAYS made the Top 3: 1973's "Radar Love" by the Dutch group, Golden Earring!
The song is about a driver who seems to have a psychic connection with his girlfriend who wants him home NOW...and it causes him to drive recklessly.
But the REAL reasons it became a Top 10 hit in 7 countries (and #13 in the US), were the double stereo guitar riffs, the chugging bassline, the expert drum work, the rockin' chorus, and the jam at the end.
In other words, the song is nearly perfect in every way!
