Poison - Alice Cooper (1989) 11/15/23

The year was 1989. Alice Cooper hadn't had a Top 10 hit in 12 years, but that was about to change.

He teamed up with songwriter Desmond Child, and together they whipped up some "Poison," which quickly brought Alice back to the forefront.

Desmond was known fpr working with artists who had developed their own specific personas. In the past, he had worked with Kiss and Meatloaf, so Vince Fournier (Alice Cooper) certainly qualified. :-)

The song "Poison" tells the story of a man who is madly in love with someone is was bad for him. He knows it, but he can't help himself.

It was sort of a mix between power pop, rock and punk, and Alice went all in with the vocals--as well as the video--which, by the way, is Rated "R' for partial nudity.

As stated above, "Poison" put Alice Cooper back in the Top 10...not just in the US, but in 8 other countries as well. It peaked at #2 in the UK and New Zealand, and here at at home, it slithered its way to #7 on Billboard's Hot 100.

"Poison" by Alice Cooper: with some songwriting help from Desmond Child, it became a Great Song of 1989! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ceFq7QsdNM
