No More Mr. Nice Guy - Alice Cooper (1973) 10/28/22

By 1973, Alice Cooper was pretty much a household name amongst music fans. Of course, it was still the name of a BAND, as opposed to Alice himself, (Vince Fournier) who had yet to go solo.

The problem was that some of those households belonged to his mother's church group, and they were constantly letting mom know how they felt about her son and his wicked ways. (Like many, they had no concept of the type of "theatrical rock" Vince and the band were pioneering.)

Anyway, mom was upset...and so was Vince.

When Alice Cooper (the band) released their sixth album ("Billion Dollar Babies"), it contained a song written by Vince and bandmate Michael Bruce that pretty much told the world how he felt about the situation: "No More Mr. Nice Guy!"

Vince explained that "the gloves were off" and he was through trying to explain himself. Plus, he could be doing a lot WORSE things with his life.

The song was immediately embraced by FM rock stations and their listeners, and when it was released as a single, enough AM Top 40 stations played it to make it a chart hit at #25.

The amount of attention the track received on both FM and AM radio drove "Billion Dollar Babies" to the top of the Album Charts in both the US and the UK! "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is STILL a classic rock staple today, and is considered by MANY to be a "Great Song of the '70s!"
