Nights Are Forever Without You - England Dan & John Ford Coley (1976) 7/22/22

On the heels of their FIRST Great Song of 1976--and their careers--England Dan (Seals) and John Ford Coley released their SECOND Great Song.

In fact, "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" (which we have yet to highlight) was slowly moving down the Top 40, when "Nights are Forever Without You" rushed past it and into the Top10.


That's impressive...even more so considering that music critics couldn't agree on what GENRE" the song fit into.


Billboard called it a "twangy guitar number." Another critic called it "a soft rock ballad with lush harmonies.


Truthfully, you can make a case for both, but the important thing is the fact that it was a HUGE hit...topping off at #4 on Billboard's Easy Listening Chart and #6 on Canada's Adult Contemporary Chart. Coincidentally, it peaked at #10 on the Top 40 in BOTH countries.


Then, in 1978, Buck Owens covered it and added enough extra "twang" to send it to #27 on Billboard's Country Chart.
