Here's a true one-hit wonder for you:
A group that recorded one album, didn't like their own work, but still scored a record deal.
They released one single in 1972 that went to #12 on both the Hot 100 and the Adult Contemporary Charts, released two more singles that went nowhere, and broke up in
less than a year.
The group was Sailcat, and the name of the song (and the album) was "Motorcycle Mama."
(Note: This is not to be confused with the Neil Young tune by the same name.)
You may or may not remember the group, the album, OR the song, but that doesn't mean they're not worth remembering.
The album had a "biker" theme, and the song was sort of a biker "marriage proposal" over a jaunty country/folk groove.
In its own way, "Motorcycle Mama" was truly a Great Song of 1972, and even though it's rather obscure today, it STILL is well worth highlighting! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8zgRiDYWjk
