It's an all too common story: A young girl runs off with an older man, much to the chagrin of her mother, who begs the girl to come home “before it's too late.”
For Heart's Ann Wilson, the story was true. She was the girl, and the man was Heart's band manager, Roger “Magic Man” Fisher.
Thankfully, mom was wrong. Ann and Roger dated for quite a while, without any ugly incidents. In fact, although the relationship didn't last, Ann's “Magic Man” (the song!) has stood the test of time.
The single (from the LP “Dreamboat Annie”) was released in Canada 1976 and made it to #26 on their Top
40, but in several other countries, it was a Top 10 smash. When it was finally released in the US in 1977, it peaked at #9 on Billboard's Hot 100! Classic Rock stations still play the song on a regular basis.
Magic Man” by Heart: A “Great Song of the '70s!”
