Back in the Mid-60s, Football Hall-of-Fame fullback Jim Brown was responsible for some "Great Plays" both on and off the gridiron.
Away from football, he was indirectly responsible for some "Great Songs!" He is credited with discovering Earth, Wind and Fire...and today's highlighted group: "The Friends of Distinction."
The "Friends" burst on the scene in 1968, with their updated version of Hugh Masekela's instrumental "Grazin' in the Grass," complete with added lyrics by group member Harry Elston." THAT song became a "Great Song of the '60s." (Check the link below and see if "you can dig it!")
In 1970, they added another "Great Song" to their set list: "Love or Let Me Be Lonely." The song was a multi-format hit, reaching #6 on the Hot 100, #8 on the Adult Contemporary Chart, and #13 on the Rhythm & Blues Chart. In Canada, it reached #2 on the Top 40.
There's not much more to add, but that's okay. The title explains the lyrics and vice versa. Other that that, "Love or Let Me Be Lonely," is just a "Great Song of 1970."
