Love is Alive - Gary Wright (1976) 5/8/21

If I asked you to name a "Great Song of the '70s" by Gary Wright, you would most likely say 1975's "Dream Weaver," and you wouldn't be wrong.

However...

Another "Great Song" by Gary actually spent 27 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart--seven weeks LONGER than "Dream Weaver!"

"Love is Alive" was the second single off the "Dream Weaver" album, and just like the title cut, there were only two musicians on the track: Gary on Vocals and keyboards and Andy Newmark on drums. Pretty amazing!

Totally accidental trivia: "Love is Alive" stalled at #2 on the Hot 100, kept out of the top spot by "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John, and Thursday's "Great Songs of the '70s" artist: Kiki Dee!

I swear I had no idea until I did the research!

"Love is Alive" by Gary Wright: Billboard Magazine ranked it as the #9 song of 1976...and it easily ranks overall...as a "Great Song of the '70s!"

Note: We highlighted "Dream Weaver" back on 1/27/21, and you can read about it here: https://www.facebook.com/MichaelCuuuk/posts/271716640968457
