The late Christine McVie was a world-class singer, songwriter and Keyboardist--who certainly lived up to her her maiden name: Christine Perfect!
She was responsible for SEVERAL of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits, including "Don't Stop," "Hold Me," "You Make Lovin' Fun," "Say You Love me," "Over My Head," "Songbird," and today's Great Song of 1987: "Little Lies!"
Christine wrote the song with her then-husband Eddy Quintela, but it appeared at that point they were deeply in love, and NOT singing about themselves.
It more likely reflected on her former husband, John McVie, or previous boyfriend Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys--but we'll never know for sure.
"Little Lies," was recorded for--and released as a single from--Fleetwood Mac's 14th album, "Tango in the Night," their first album after a 5 year hiatus. (Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham provided the background vocals.)
The song topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart for four weeks in the fall of '87, while up in Canada, it reached #2 on the matching chart. On the Hot 100, It was a hit at #4 in the US, and #13 in Canada.
In 2016, Hillary Duff released a synth-pop dance cover for digital download only, and despite some snarky reviews, it was a big success--as it was tied into her TV Land comedy series, "Younger."
