Today, the Doobie Brothers are front and center with a "Great Song of the '70s."
In 1972, they released their second album, "Toulouse Street," and the first single from the LP was "Listen to the Music."
Tom Johnston wrote the song as a call for world peace. Years later, he was quoted as saying, "It was very Utopian and unrealistic, but it seemed like a good idea at the time."
Maybe it didn't bring world peace, but fans loved it--then and now!. It peaked at #3 in Canada and #11 in the U.S., and the song is STILL a staple on classic rock stations everywhere. Plus, the Doobies still use it as their encore song during live shows!
