Let Your Love Flow - Bellamy Brothers (1976) 12/27/21

Once upon a time, in 1975 or so, Larry Williams, a roadie for Neil Diamond, wrote what he thought was a hit song."

Neil decided to buy the rights from Larry, but for reasons unknown, declined to record it.

A short while later, a struggling musician named David Bellamy was recording demos with Neil's band in hopes of landing a contract..an album...a single--ANYTHING to kick start his career.

Neil's drummer, Dennis St. John. mentioned Larry's song and David asked him to send a demo copy to his manager, Phil Gernhard.

The next day, after David and Phil listened to the demo...David immediately called his brother Howard and told him he found a song they HAD to record. After hearing the demo, Howard agreed.

Shortly thereafter, the Bellamy Brothers were in the studio with Neil's band, and after just two or three takes, "Let Your Love Grow" was complete!

When the song was released as a single, it became a hit worldwide hit, reaching the Top 10 in 15 countries...including #1 in Austria, South Africa, Rhodesia, Switzerland, West Germany, Canada, and the US! It also charted in Canada and US on the Adult Contemporary and Country charts.

The song pretty much made EVERYONE a winner: Larry Williams had written a hit," Neil Diamond made money on the publishing rights, and the Bellamy Brothers kicked off a long career with "Let Your Love Flow," a Great Song of 1976!"
