It took an awfully long time for the group Exile to score a hit. They started in 1963, but didn't chart until 1978.
That's 15 long years...but when they finally broke through, they did it in a very BIG way!
Their first hit, "Kiss You All Over," was not only a "Great Song," but a Top 10 single in 13 countries, including #1 in Australia, New Zealand and the US, as well as #2 in Canada and Sweden!
"Kiss You All Over" was written by the songwriting team of Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, who took their inspiration from...Barry White! That may seem like a stretch, but if you listen to the lyrics, it's not really a stretch at all.
The song made Exile a one-hit wonder--on the Top 40 charts...but in 1983 they switched over to country music...and promptly scored 11 #1 songs in both the US and Canada!
But it all began with "Kiss You All Over:" a nod to Barry White and a "Great Song of 1978!"
