In 1977, Firefall released a song written by group leader Rick Roberts that offered comfort to those who were down and out...and at their wits' end.
"Just Remember I Love You" was a big "request line" song at many radio stations, as spouses, significant others, relatives and friends would call and ask the DJ on duty to dedicate the song to a loved one.
Others would buy a copy and give it to someone they cared about.
Both of those factors helped the song reach #1 on the Adult Contemporary Charts in both Canada and the US, as well as #6 on Canada's Top 40, and #11 in the US on Billboard's Hot 100.
"Just Remember I Love You" brightened the spirit of many who heard it, and that alone makes it a "Great Song of the '70s."
Side note: My boss at I-94 in Eau Claire (back in the early '80s) was also named Rick Roberts, and you can bet he was a Firefall fan. In fact, the group awarded him a with a gold record for his support of their music. He was pretty proud of that. :-)
