Almost a year ago (4/26/21), we highlighted Olivia Newton-John's "Great Song of 1973:" "Let Me Be There," and revealed the name of the man whose deep bass voice sang backup: Mike Sammes.
"Let Me Be There" was written by John Rostill and produced by John Farrar. You can read all about it here: https://www.facebook.com/MichaelCuuuk/posts/324411809032273
In a perfect example of "don't mess with the formula," Olivia's next "Great Song," 1974's "If You Love Me, Let Me Know," also featured the team of Rostill, Farrar and Sammes!
And once again, they came up with a Top 5 Triple-Charter! In fact, in Canada, the song went to #1 on the Top 40, Adult Contemporary and Country Charts! In the US, it reached #2 on the Adult Contemporary and Country Charts, and #5 on the Hot 100.
Lightning had stuck twice in a row, and although Olivia had scored a few hits before this dynamic duo of songs raced up the charts... this was when her career really took off--with her long list of "Great Songs" continuing well into the '80s!"
