So yesterday, we highlighted Bryan Adams' Great Song of 1983: "Straight from the Heart."
Today, we're highlighting Peabo Bryson's Great Song of 1984: "If Ever You're in My Arms Again," from the album...you guessed it: "Straight from the Heart."
And yes, it's a coincidence.!
You've probably wondered where the name "Peabo" came from. Well, it's an alteration of his middle name: Robert "Peapo" Bryson, and you have to admit it's a catchier stage name than Bob Bryson.
Peabo was known for his ballads, and "If Ever You're in My Arms Again," was one of his best. In fact, there was quite a bit of audience crossover (mass appeal) when the single was released.
It became a triple chart Top 10, reaching #10 on Billboard's Hot 100, and #6 on the R&B Chart, while Topping the Adult Contemporary Chart!
It also garnered attention from soap opera fans when it was used extensively in "Santa Barbara."
"If Ever You're in My Arms Again" by Bob--sorry--Peabo Bryson: definitely a Great Song of 1984. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcDvzifP_gk
Tomorrow: Power Station gets hot.
