I'm Not Lisa - Jessi Colter (1975) 12/10

Today, we're jumping back into the '70s for a Great Country/Pop Crossover hit from 1975!

Mirriam Johnson was a piano-playing vocalist who was once married to '50s guitar legend Duane Eddy, and toured with him until they divorced in 1968.

In 1969, she married another legend, Waylon Jennings, and changed her stage name to Jessi Colter. At that point, she jumped headfirst into her recording career, with Waylon producing most of her songs and albums.

Their biggest collaboration was "I'm Not Lisa," the story of a woman who was dealing with the pain of dating a man who was still pining for a previous lover.

Not only did the song top the Country Charts in the US & Canada, it also topped Canada's Adult Contemporary Chart, and reached #4 in the US on Billboard's Hot100.

On top of that, Jessi garnered Grammy and Country Music Association nominations for "Best Female Country Music Performance!"

After "I'm Not Lisa," she had a respectable number of other country hits--with and without Waylon--but nothing nearly as big.

Waylon died in 2002, and since then, Jessi's output has been sporadic--although she released a new album earlier this year (2023), produced by Her (and Waylon's) son, Shooter Jennings.

"I'm Not Lisa" by Jessi Colter: a "Great Song of 1975!
