I Found Someone - Cher (1988) 10/24/23

Did you know that singer Michael Bolton is also a songwriter?

In fact, he co-wrote "I Found Someone: "today's "Great Song of 1988 with Mark Mangold...and then handed it off to Laura Branigan, who took it to #25 on the Adult Contemporary Chart in 1986. (Clink link below.)

Not bad...but then in 1987, someone covered it and turned it into the power ballad on steroids it always should have been.

That someone was...Cher.

Cher recorded and released it from her self-titled 18th studio album--just when she was becoming a box office mainstay as an actress. It served as an solid reminder that she could still ROCK with the best of them.

"I Found Someone" was her first Top 10 hit in 9 years. In early '88, it reached #3 in Iceland, #4 in Ireland, #5 in the UK, and #10 in the US. MTV played it in heavy rotation, giving it even more of a boost!

Note: Michael Bolton produced the track and added some background vocals--and why not!?

"I Found Someone," co-written by Michael Bolton and Mark Mangold: a Good Song of 1987 by Laura Branigan, but a GREAT Song of 1988 by Cher!

Tomorrow: The last Doobie hit.
