To call Elton John "prolific" is an understatement--especially when you consider his volume of work since 1970.
To add some perspective, today's Great Song came from Elton's 21st studio album, "Reg Strikes Back," in Nineteen-Eighty-Eight--36 years ago!
The first single from the album, "I Don't Wanna Go On with You Like That," was Elton's highest charting US hit of the '80s: his 8th #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, while reaching #2 on the Hot100, #7 on the Dance Club Chart, and #15 on the Dance Sales Chart.
Elton wrote the music, and his favorite lyricist, Bernie Taupin supplied the words. "I Don't Wanna Go On with You Like That" is a rockin' dance number that the UK's Music Week Magazine called a "totally irresistible and thumpingly energic track". Here in the US, Cashbox Magazine praised the "biting lyrics."
Overall, it was another Great Song from Elton (and Bernie)-and after that, to coin a phrase, "The hits just kept on coming!
