Billy Joel's legendary 1978 album, "52nd Street," garnered a couple of well-earned Grammy Awards: "Album of the Year" and "Best Pop Performance--Male." Impressive!
In addition, the third single from the album, 1979's "Honesty," was nominated for "Song of the Year!"
The first 2 releases were also big hits: "Movin' Out," which we highlighted back on 11/12/20: https://www.facebook.com/MichaelCuuuk/posts/225564675583654 ...and "Big Shot," which we will highlight at a later date.
"Honest" reactions by music critics and Billy Joel fans were almost universally positive, and not just in the North America. "Honesty" charted in 10 countries, reaching #1 in France, #4 in Canada, #8 in South Africa and #9 in the US on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart.
The song is so tied to Billy Joel, there have only been a few covers, and only one of note. In 2002, Beyonce' recorded a version for a Destiny's Child compilation album, and it climbed all the way to #2 on the chart---in South Korea! (It didn't chart anywhere else.)
"Honesty:" One of the best from Billy Joel...and a "Great Song of 1979!"
