Hold Your head Up - Argent (1972) 8/3/21

One of the biggest hits of 1969 was "Time of the Season" by the Zombies.

It was a "Great Song" and it had a killer organ solo by Rod Argent.

Unfortunately, the Zombies had broken up long before the song hit the charts, but to promote the record, they regrouped for a tour. Once that was done, however, they broke up again--only to regroup and break up several more times before they were inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of Fame in 2019.

But let's back up to 1972. The Zombies were dead (so to speak), so Rod Argent took his keyboard and formed a new group, naming it after himself.

Argent (the group) became a one-hit wonder with "Hold Your Head Up." Interestingly, the song reached #5 on the charts in the UK, Canada AND the US!

Music critics loved the song, and Rick Wakeman, keyboardist for the group Yes has said the song includes the greatest organ solo ever recorded!

Today, the song is still a staple on classic rock stations, and rightfully so: "Hold Your Head Up" by Argent is a "Great Song of the '70s!

Just for fun, here's "Time of the Season" by the Zombies (1969):
