It has the longest title of any song ever to top the charts in the US...and it topped 3 different charts at the same time!
In 1975, B.J. Thomas took “(Hey, Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” to the top of Billboard's Hot 100, Adult Contemporary and Country Charts at the same time—a rare “triple crown!”
It's hard to believe, but it was only the second #1 single of B.J.'s long career. (The first was “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” in 1969-70.)
“Wrong Song” was also his first #1 on the Country Chart, followed by 1983's “Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love,” which also made to #13 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.
It also won the Grammy for “Song of the Year,” awarded to songwriters Larry Butler and Chips Moman!
Suffice it to say that you don't get to #1 across the board if you don't have a song that appeals to a huge cross section of fans and radio listeners. In other words: A “Great Song” like “(Hey, Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song!”
