Here Comes the Rain Again - Eurythmics (1984) 2/19/24

It was a rather dreary day in New York City, circa 1983. Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox--The Eurhythmics--were in town, and staying at the Mayflower Hotel.

Dave was noodling on his Casio Keyboard, playing some minor chords in a melancholy mood, when Annie looked out the window at the clouds over the skyline and suddenly in sync with the music, sang these five words: "Here Comes the Rain Again."

Next thing you know, they had written a Great Song of 1984!

"Here Comes the Rain Again" was added to their third studio album, "Touch," and the recording process was unique--to say the least.

Members of the New York Philharmonic were hired to play the string tracks for the song, but the studio was too small to accommodate them. They were forced to record their parts independently in several other areas of the building, and the tracks were mixed with the original track.

You don't get to be a member of a Philharmonic- Orchestra -unless you are VERY good, and the players proved it when all the tracks were mixed together and were perfectly in sync! Very Impressive stuff!

Here "Comes the Rain Again" was a hit in 13 countries...including the US, where it reached the Top 10 on FOUR Billboard Charts: Hot 100 (#4), Dance Club (#4),

Adult Contemporary (#6) and Mainstream Rock (#8).

Fun Fact: The video features both Dave and Annie, and like the strings tracks on the song, most of their footage was shot separately and mixed together later.
