Back on 8/22/22, I highlighted the #1 song "Fly, Robin, Fly" by the West German group Silver Convention.
At the time, I mentioned that the 3 lovely ladies in the group spoke no English, so it was decided to whittle the lyrics down to just 6 different words: Fly, Robin, Up, To, The, Sky, which they sang phonetically...repeatedly.
I also mentioned that the song holds the record for the least amount of unique words (6) of any non-instrumental Hot 100 chart topper.
Today's "Great Song of 1976 is Silver Convention's follow up song: "Get Up and Boogie," which holds the record for the least amount of unique words (6) of any non-instrumental song to reach #2 on the Hot 100.
Hey, why mess with success!? The 6 words this time around were: "That's Right! Get Up and Boogie."
The song was just as catchy and danceable as their previous hit, and in addition to reaching #2 on the Hot 100 and Disco Charts, it reached #1 on Canada's Top 40.
"Get Up and Boogie" by Silver Convention: a song of few words, but a "Great Song of 1976" nevertheless!
