Get Dancin' - Disco Tex & The Sex-O-Lettes (1974) 4/8/23

In just few weeks, Monti Rock III turns 81.

So who, you ask, is Monti Rock III?

Well, back in the '70s, the flamboyant Mr. Rock was just about everywhere (often on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson), doing just about everything an entertainer could do.

He was a singer, dancer, actor, comedian, DJ, and even a minister whose career really took off when disco took over the world.

Y0u might remember him as the DJ in the movie "Saturday Night Fever," but if you were truly a fan of disco, you'll remember the group fronted by his alter ego: Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes!

Their biggest hit, 1974's "Get Dancin', was written by Bob Crewe (who wrote many of the Four Seasons' greatest hits), and Kenny Nolan, (who wrote ballad "I like Dreaming").

Thanks to Monti, "Get Dancin' was a masterpiece of flamboyant characterization that would fill dance floors across the US...and race up the charts to #1 on the Disco Chart, #3 on the Dance Chart, and #10 on the Hot 100.

Basically, it was a lot of nonsense--and a perfect song for its time. To a certain extent, it was AHEAD of its time!

Monti Rock III has been out of the spotlight for years, but he left quite a legacy in the world of '70s disco...with "Get Dancin' by Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVnkDZEX85Q
