Joe Walsh has been cranking out rock & roll for more than 50 years!
He's not only one of the most prolific session musicians of all time, he's been a successful solo artist, and a member of several bands--most notably (in reverse order): Ringo's All "Starr" Band (He's Ringo's brother-in-law!), The Eagles (with whom he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame), and very early in his career, The James Gang.
In 1970, Joe and his guitar led The James Gang (including bassist Dale Peters and drummer Jim Fox) on a song that only reached #59 on Billboard's Hot 100...but has become a staple on classic and progressive rock stations: "Funk #49."
The song is nominally about a girl, but Joe claims it's all about the instrumentation.
He's not wrong.
Crank it up and enjoy! "Funk #49" by the James Gang: a "Great Rock and Roll Song of 1970!"
