Even Now - Barry Manilow (1978) 9/4/22

Lyricist Marty Panzer wrote the words to a number of "Great Songs," most of which were collaborations with a songwriter you may have heard of: Barry Manilow.

One of Barry's favorites was 1978's "Even Now," which featured some of Marty's most personal autobiographical lyrics.

It's the story of a man who left the woman he loved...for someone who offered a much better future, and the regret and remorse he feels...even now.

Billboard called it "one of Manilow's classiest efforts. Cashbox praised Barry's "shivering moments."

Barry himself has said the song makes him emotional every time he performs it.

When the song was released as a single, fans and radio listeners could obviously relate. "Even Now" went to #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, and became a "Great Song of 1978," thanks to Barry Manilow--and especially Marty Panzer.
