Eddie Van Halen Tribute 10/6/20

Eddie Van Halen, one of most talented guitarists to ever strap on a Fender, died today, a victim of throat cancer at age 65. As always in situations like these, I turn to Variety Magazine for the comprehensive obituary: https://variety.com/.../eddie-van-halen-dead-1234794641/

To say he was a legend is a HUGE understatement. While most of his work--and hits with his eponymous band--came in the 1980s and beyond, they actually burst onto the scene in 1978 with their self-titled first album.

In addition to a rockin' remake of the 1964 Kinks hit, "You Really Got Me," which when released as a single, reached #36 on the Hot 100, it was the album cut "Explosion," that showed off what Eddie could do--and WOULD do--for the rest of his career.
