Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee - Jerry Lee Lewis (1973) 10/29/22

The Killer is dead. Jerry Lee Lewis...one of rock & country music's living legends...passed away yesterday at the age of 87.

There's so much to tell about his controversial life, but I'll leave it to to the obituary experts at Variety Magazine: https://variety.com/.../jerry-lee-lewis-dead-singer.../

What I want to call attention to was the length of his career. His first "Great Song" was "Whole Lot of Shakin' Goin' On" in 1956, and he kept releasing material every year through 1984...and sporadically thereafter, all the way up to 2009.

He was a constant presence on the Country Charts in the '60s and '70s, with an occasional switch back to good old Rock and Roll.

For example, in 1973, Jerry Lee cut loose on "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee." This little slice of piano-banging craziness made the Rock & Country Charts in both the US and Canada...and proved that "The Killer" could still "kill it! Give it a listen...and you'll hear what I mean! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVKGB4AEULY

Rest in Peace, Jerry Lee Lewis!
