Many of you are either singers and/or musicians. With that in mind, I'd like to present a Great Song of 1980 that offers up the sort of dream scenario that could wake you up in a cold sweat.
Suppose you're a singer/songwriter who has co-written a song with your spouse, and a legendary singer has agreed to record it with you as a duet.
On the day on the recording, you show up at the studio, facing the superstar and a room full of musicians only to find out they've changed the key signature, didn't tell you, and now you have to ad lib the new harmonies.
Luckily Kim Carnes was a darn good singer herself, so she was able to hit the curveball Kenny Rogers threw at her, and knock it out of the park!
"Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer was a multi chart hit in both the US and Canada.
Here at home, it went to #2 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, #3 on the Country Chart, and #4 on the Hot 100. Up North, it did even better: #1 on the Adult Contemporary and Country Charts, and #3 on the Top 40.
Notes: The song appeared on Kenny's 1980 album, "Gideon," and for the record, Kim's husband and co-writer was David Ellingson.

Tomorrow: One last #1 for John.
