Dazz - Brick (1977) 6/28/21

We haven't been back to the disco for a while, but today, we return to highlight a tune that you may not remember, but was a "Great Song of 1977" nonetheless!

"Dazz," (a cross between Disco and Jazz), is not only the name of the song, but the musical hybrid that made it so danceable!

In late 1976, the group Brick released the song from their "Good High" album, and crossing over into 1977, it spent 5 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Rhythm & Blues Chart. It also reached #3 on The Hot 100 and #7 on the Dance Chart.

It's one of those disco songs that sounds like Earth, Wind & Fire...or The Commodores...or Herbie Hancock...or maybe even KC & The Sunshine Band. What do YOU think? (And how about that incredible flute solo!?)

"Dazz" by Brick: a "Great Disco/Jazz Song of 1977!"
