Singer/actor David Soul has passed away at the age of 80.
I put singer before actor in his description because although he was best known for his role as Ken Hutchinson in the '70s TV series "Starsky & Hutch," he was a singer before he was an actor.
And, of course, as a singer, he was a one hit wonder with "Don't Give Up on Us:" his Great Song of 1975.

It's fair to say that his role as Hutch was certainly a factor in the popularity of "Don't Give Up on Us," but it's also true that a song doesn't reach #1 on the Top 40 AND Adult Contemporary Charts in both the US and Canada, as well #1 in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand...(and become a multi-million seller worldwide) without being a "Great Song" to begin with!
