C'est Le Vie - Robbie Neville (1986-87)

Singer/Songwriter Robbie Neville started playing guitar at age 11, and after years of playing in a number of bands and developing his own material, he was signed to a publishing deal in 1983--making him a Songwriter/Singer.

In 1986, ,after writing songs for The Pointer Sisters, El DeBarge, Earth Wind & Fire, and others, he signed a recording contract, which flipped him back into a Singer/Songwriter.

Shortly thereafter, he hit the ground (and the charts) running with his self-titled debut album, and his debut single, "Cest La Vie, (French for "That's Life").

"Cest La Vie" was actually a cover version of a song he co-wrote for--and recorded by--Gospel singer Beau Williams in 1984! (Check the link below.)

Robbie's version was a worldwide hit. As1986 crossed into 1987, it charted in 16 countries, reaching #1 in Finland, Switzerland, Canada, and here in the US, where it topped Billboard's Dance Chart, and reached #2 on the Hot 100! (Oddly, it didn't chart in France!)

Robbie went on to have a handful of other hits, which we will eventually highlight...but not today. Hey, that's life!
