Breaking Up is Hard to Do

So here's an idea for a Great Song for the '70s: "Let's take a #1 charting Do-Wop song from 1962, have the ORIGINAL ARTIST re-record it as a ballad in 1975, and see what happens.




Plus, as a bonus, let's get Richard Carpenter to arrange it.So what happened? In early 1976, it went to #1 AGAIN--this time on the Adult Contemporary Chart, as well as #8 on the Top 40 chart.
