Born to Wander - Rare Earth (1970) 5/17/22

In the early '70s, Rare Earth was one of only a handful of all white acts signed to Motown Records...and the ONLY one of those groups to have any hits.

We've highlighted two of their "Great Songs" in the past: "I Just Want to Celebrate" way back on 11/13/19, and "Get Ready" back on 3/2/21.

You can read about them both by clicking the links below.

Today, we're taking a look an another one of their "Great Songs:" 1971's "Born to Wander," from the album, "Ecology."

"Born to Wander" was a hard rockin' jazz hybrid (with a flute solo) about the "nomadic teen and college culture of the late '60s and early '70s." It took the group several sessions to record it, but it paid off.

Officially, Billboard Magazine said it topped off at #17 on the Hot 100, but the song was played extensively on Hard Rock and Progressive radio stations, with no real charts to track airplay or sales.

Regardless, "Born to Wander" is a ":Great Song of 1971!"
