Today's "Great Song of 1976" was a lot of things. In fact, "Boogie Fever" by The Sylvers had something for just about everybody.
*If you liked dancing, it was an uptempo disco song. *If you liked bubblegum, it was certainly something to chew on. *If you liked family groups like The Jackson Five or the Osmonds, the Sylvers featured NINE siblings.
Then, if you take a bass line by Motown's James Jamison, add the opening riff from The Beatles' "Day Tripper" and mix it all together, you've got yourself a guaranteed #1 hit!
In fact, "Boogie Fever" topped Billboard's Hot 100 and Soul Charts, as well as Canada's Top 40.
Over the years, the song has been featured in the TV Mini-Series "The Stand," the film "Despicable Me," and in commercials for Intel Pentium II, Old Navy and Little Caesar's Pizza.
So, if you've got a Fever...perhaps the only cure is: More Boogie!
